These funds are from the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board and allocated every two years to watershed councils. Sherman County has two Small Grant Areas, Lower John Day and the Lower Deschutes. Small Grants award up to $15,000 for on-the-ground restoration projects. You have two years to complete these projects. Projects are approved monthly by the Small Grant Team at the SWCD Board Meetings.
Projects can include improving cropland health, improving range health, restoring riparian processes, improving fish passage, increasing watering facilities for wildlife and livestock, managing weeds and other vegetation, increasing water use efficiency and more!
Contact the office if you are interested in applying for a Small Grant project.
